For along time I didn’t understand
That people are keys
And they can unlock
Your entire essence
Explored by the words you speak
Or they way you move
And the habits that caused
Little quirks and reactions
And then I learned that
Sometimes people are storms
A tsunami to force down
The walls of your boundaries
And an earthquake that crumbles
The structure of your mind
A strike of lightening that
Takes all your power away
They dwell in all parts of you
But they have left you outside
Of their own element
To deal with the after effects of
Their downpour
And you sit
Knowing you’re not the right key
But chiseling away parts
Of yourself
So
One
Day
You
Might
Fit .
Compromising
Yourself out of
Fear that you’ll
Be All
Alone again.
I want to say it was self love that
Got me out of the epicenter
But really I was
just
so
tired
And then I learned that
Sometimes people are shelters
And that’s when you know
You are safe
They patch up the damaged parts
Of you and restore your inner faith
You start to have dreams
And ambitions
You grow and only hope
You can be the same
safe shelter they deserve
You unlearn what the storms
have taught you
And find peace within the calm
And that’s when it really hits you
You
truly are
Home.
